Ball Head Wiper Solutions by Polypac
Reliable Seal Performance
Polypac's Ball Head Wiper delivers dependable contamination control where piston and rod interfaces demand clean, efficient operation. The Ball Head Wiper removes dirt, slurry and fluids from rod surfaces during retraction, minimizing particle ingress and protecting downstream sealing elements. Engineered for low friction and long service life, our Ball Head Wiper improves system uptime and reduces maintenance intervals.
Materials & Compatibility
Available in a wide range of formulations, our Ball Head Wiper can be manufactured from filled PTFE options (bronze, carbon, graphite, MoS2, glass) and elastomers such as NBR, FKM, EPDM, silicone and high-performance FFKM. Material selection is tailored to temperature ranges, chemical exposure, and abrasion resistance to ensure optimal compatibility with hydraulic fluids and harsh operating media.
Precision Manufacturing & Testing
Manufactured in Polypac's advanced facility with over 10,000 m² of production space and 8,000 m² of dedicated factory area, each Ball Head Wiper is produced using industry-leading equipment and rigorous quality control. We employ dimensional inspection, material traceability and functional testing to guarantee consistent performance across production runs.
Customized Designs for Harsh Conditions
Polypac specializes in bespoke sealing solutions. Whether you require unique cross-sections, compound materials, or integrated O-ring interfaces, our engineers collaborate with clients to develop Ball Head Wiper designs optimized for extreme pressure, temperature cycling, or abrasive environments.
Applications & Industry Use
Ideal for hydraulic cylinders, mobile equipment, industrial presses, pumps and defense systems, the Ball Head Wiper is widely used where rod cleanliness directly affects seal life. Its robust design suits agriculture, construction, oil & gas and marine industries.
Why Choose Polypac
Founded in 2008, Polypac combines decades of sealing expertise with ongoing partnerships with universities and research institutes. As a leading seal manufacturer and oil seal supplier, we offer fast prototyping, scalable production and responsive technical support to ensure your Ball Head Wiper solution meets exacting performance demands.
When should I use a spring-energized seal instead of a standard elastomeric seal?
Consider a spring-energized seal (e.g., GSF, SPN types) for demanding applications involving: Extreme Temperatures (below -30°C or above +200°C) Aggressive Chemicals that elastomers can't handle Very Low Leakage or "Zero Leakage" requirements Poor Lubricity or dry running conditions The internal spring maintains constant sealing force, compensating for wear and system variables.
How do I choose the right material for my sealing application?
Material selection depends on four key factors: Media: What fluid or gas will the seal contact? (e.g., petroleum oil, water, chemicals, steam) Temperature: What is the minimum and maximum operating temperature? Pressure: What is the system's operating pressure? Are there pressure spikes? Application: Is it a static, dynamic, or rotary seal? Example: NBR (Buna-N) is excellent for standard hydraulic oil, while FKM (Viton®) is needed for high temperatures or aggressive chemicals.
What does "AS568" mean?
AS568 is the Aerospace Standard that defines the dimensions for over 360 standard O-ring sizes. It is the most widely accepted sizing system in North America and globally. An AS568 number (e.g., AS568-214) specifies a precise inside diameter and cross-section.
How important is surface finish on the metal parts that contact the seal?
Extremely important. A rough surface will abrade and wear out the seal quickly, causing leaks. A finish that is too smooth can prevent a lubricating film from forming. A typical recommended surface finish for dynamic applications is 0.2 to 0.8 μm (8-32 μin) Ra.
