Hydraulic Rod Seals by Polypac — Durable, Precise, Customizable
Hydraulic Rod Seals — Reliable Sealing for Demanding Hydraulic Systems
Polypac designs and manufactures High Quality Hydraulic rod seals tailored for high-pressure, high-speed and contaminated environments. As a scientific and technical hydraulic seal manufacturer, Polypac combines decades of material science and precision production to ensure rod seals that minimize leakage, reduce wear and extend cylinder life.
Key Features & Performance Benefits
Our Hydraulic rod seals provide excellent dynamic sealing, low friction, and high extrusion resistance. They are engineered to resist frictional heat, media attack and extrusion under pressure, delivering consistent performance in mobile hydraulics, industrial cylinders and special working conditions. These features translate into less downtime, lower maintenance costs and improved system efficiency.
Materials & Customization
Polypac began with advanced filled PTFE formulations (bronze, carbon, graphite, MoS₂, glass) and now offers a broad material portfolio including NBR, FKM, silicone, EPDM and FFKM for O-rings and complementary components. We tailor Hydraulic rod seals to specific temperatures, pressures and chemical exposures—custom compound development and profile adjustments are available to meet unique application requirements.
Manufacturing Excellence & Quality Control
With a custom rubber ring and O-ring factory covering over 10,000 m² and an 8,000 m² production space, Polypac uses industry-leading production and testing equipment. Our processes follow strict quality controls and we maintain long-term R&D collaborations with universities and research institutes to validate performance and longevity of Hydraulic rod seals under real-world conditions.
Applications & Industry Use Cases
Polypac Hydraulic rod seals serve construction machinery, agricultural equipment, oil & gas actuators, press systems and marine hydraulics. They perform reliably in dusty, muddy, high-temperature and chemically aggressive environments where standard seals fail.
Why Choose Polypac?
Choosing Polypac means partnering with one of China’s largest dedicated seal developers—offering speedy prototyping, scalable production and full technical support. For tailored Hydraulic rod seals that balance life-cycle cost and performance, Polypac delivers proven solutions and responsive service.

How important is surface finish on the metal parts that contact the seal?
Extremely important. A rough surface will abrade and wear out the seal quickly, causing leaks. A finish that is too smooth can prevent a lubricating film from forming. A typical recommended surface finish for dynamic applications is 0.2 to 0.8 μm (8-32 μin) Ra.
What is the difference between NBR and FKM materials?
NBR (Nitrile/Buna-N): A general-purpose, cost-effective material with excellent resistance to petroleum-based oils and fuels. It has a standard temperature range of -30°C to +100°C (-22°F to +212°F). FKM (Fluoroelastomer/Viton®): A premium material with excellent resistance to high temperatures (up to 200°C+), chemicals, and oils. It is used in more severe environments but is more expensive than NBR.
What does "AS568" mean?
AS568 is the Aerospace Standard that defines the dimensions for over 360 standard O-ring sizes. It is the most widely accepted sizing system in North America and globally. An AS568 number (e.g., AS568-214) specifies a precise inside diameter and cross-section.
How do I choose the right material for my sealing application?
Material selection depends on four key factors: Media: What fluid or gas will the seal contact? (e.g., petroleum oil, water, chemicals, steam) Temperature: What is the minimum and maximum operating temperature? Pressure: What is the system's operating pressure? Are there pressure spikes? Application: Is it a static, dynamic, or rotary seal? Example: NBR (Buna-N) is excellent for standard hydraulic oil, while FKM (Viton®) is needed for high temperatures or aggressive chemicals.
