Integrated Wiper Seal Solutions by Polypac
Integrated Wiper Seal — Clean, Protect, Perform
Polypac’s Integrated Wiper Seal combines advanced geometry and engineered materials to prevent dirt, water, and contaminants from entering hydraulic systems. Designed for high-cycle, heavy-duty environments, the Integrated Wiper Seal reduces wear on rods and bearings while maintaining low friction and reliable sealing performance.
Precision Design and Material Options
Available in elastomers and filled PTFE compounds developed by Polypac, the Integrated Wiper Seal supports NBR, FKM, silicone, EPDM and specialty FFKM formulations, as well as bronze-, carbon- and glass-filled PTFE blends. These options allow tailored resistance to abrasion, chemicals, and extreme temperatures for optimized longevity.
Manufacturing Excellence and Testing
Produced in our 10,000+ m² custom rubber ring and O-ring factory with 8,000 m² dedicated production space, every Integrated Wiper Seal undergoes stringent dimensional and performance testing. Polypac’s advanced production and inspection equipment ensure consistent tolerances, ensuring seals meet or exceed industry life-cycle expectations.
Custom Solutions for Special Conditions
When standard designs fall short, Polypac offers customized Integrated Wiper Seal solutions for unique working conditions—abrasive slurry, high-microsecond cycling, or contaminated outdoor environments. Our R&D partnerships with universities and research institutes enable rapid prototyping and material formulation to solve complex sealing challenges.
Benefits and Application Highlights
Key benefits of the Integrated Wiper Seal include superior contamination exclusion, extended rod and bearing life, simplified installation, and compatibility with a wide range of hydraulic fluids. Typical applications include construction equipment, mobile hydraulics, industrial cylinders, and marine systems.

Why did my O-ring fail prematurely?
Common causes of O-ring failure include: Chemical Incompatibility: Swelling, softening, or cracking due to fluid exposure. Improper Sizing: Using an incorrect size leads to over-compression or inadequate sealing force. Abrasion: Wear and tear from rough surface finishes or contaminated fluid. Extrusion: The seal is forced into the gap between metal parts under high pressure. Installation Damage: Nicks, cuts, or twists during assembly.
What is the difference between a static seal and a dynamic seal?
A Static Seal is used between two surfaces that do not move relative to each other (e.g., pipe flanges, end caps). O-rings and gaskets are common static seals. A Dynamic Seal is used between surfaces that do move (e.g., piston and cylinder, rotating shaft). Rod seals, piston seals, and rotary shaft seals are designed for this purpose.
When should I use a spring-energized seal instead of a standard elastomeric seal?
Consider a spring-energized seal (e.g., GSF, SPN types) for demanding applications involving: Extreme Temperatures (below -30°C or above +200°C) Aggressive Chemicals that elastomers can't handle Very Low Leakage or "Zero Leakage" requirements Poor Lubricity or dry running conditions The internal spring maintains constant sealing force, compensating for wear and system variables.
How do I choose the right material for my sealing application?
Material selection depends on four key factors: Media: What fluid or gas will the seal contact? (e.g., petroleum oil, water, chemicals, steam) Temperature: What is the minimum and maximum operating temperature? Pressure: What is the system's operating pressure? Are there pressure spikes? Application: Is it a static, dynamic, or rotary seal? Example: NBR (Buna-N) is excellent for standard hydraulic oil, while FKM (Viton®) is needed for high temperatures or aggressive chemicals.
