Polypac is a scientific and technical hydraulic seal manufacturer and oil seal supplier specializing in piston seals, sealing material development, and customized sealing solutions for special working conditions. Founded in 2008, we combine advanced production equipment with deep R&D collaborations to deliver piston seal performance you can rely on.
Materials & Expertise
As an experienced piston seal manufacturer, Polypac produces seals in filled PTFE variants — bronze-, carbon-, graphite-, MoS2- and glass-filled PTFE — and a wide range of elastomers including NBR, FKM, silicone, EPDM and FFKM. Our materials selection is optimized for friction, wear resistance, chemical compatibility and temperature extremes to meet diverse hydraulic demands.
Manufacturing Scale & Advanced Testing
Our custom rubber ring and O-ring factory covers over 10,000 square meters, with 8,000 square meters of dedicated production space. Polypac utilizes state-of-the-art manufacturing and testing equipment, enabling consistent tolerances, surface finishes and rigorous quality verification — from material analysis to endurance and leakage tests.
Custom Solutions for Extreme Conditions
Polypac specializes in tailored piston seal solutions for harsh or unusual operating environments. Whether you need low-friction seals for high-speed actuators, high-temperature compounds, or chemical-resistant profiles, our engineering team designs and prototypes seals to meet your specification and performance targets.
R&D Collaboration & Industry Credibility
We maintain long-term partnerships with universities and research institutions both domestically and internationally. These collaborations keep Polypac at the technological forefront, enabling continual improvements in sealing materials, tribology and product lifecycle — reinforcing our reputation as a top piston seal manufacturer.

When should I use a spring-energized seal instead of a standard elastomeric seal?
Consider a spring-energized seal (e.g., GSF, SPN types) for demanding applications involving: Extreme Temperatures (below -30°C or above +200°C) Aggressive Chemicals that elastomers can't handle Very Low Leakage or "Zero Leakage" requirements Poor Lubricity or dry running conditions The internal spring maintains constant sealing force, compensating for wear and system variables.
What is the difference between NBR and FKM materials?
NBR (Nitrile/Buna-N): A general-purpose, cost-effective material with excellent resistance to petroleum-based oils and fuels. It has a standard temperature range of -30°C to +100°C (-22°F to +212°F). FKM (Fluoroelastomer/Viton®): A premium material with excellent resistance to high temperatures (up to 200°C+), chemicals, and oils. It is used in more severe environments but is more expensive than NBR.
What is the difference between a static seal and a dynamic seal?
A Static Seal is used between two surfaces that do not move relative to each other (e.g., pipe flanges, end caps). O-rings and gaskets are common static seals. A Dynamic Seal is used between surfaces that do move (e.g., piston and cylinder, rotating shaft). Rod seals, piston seals, and rotary shaft seals are designed for this purpose.
How do I choose the right material for my sealing application?
Material selection depends on four key factors: Media: What fluid or gas will the seal contact? (e.g., petroleum oil, water, chemicals, steam) Temperature: What is the minimum and maximum operating temperature? Pressure: What is the system's operating pressure? Are there pressure spikes? Application: Is it a static, dynamic, or rotary seal? Example: NBR (Buna-N) is excellent for standard hydraulic oil, while FKM (Viton®) is needed for high temperatures or aggressive chemicals.
Why did my O-ring fail prematurely?
Common causes of O-ring failure include: Chemical Incompatibility: Swelling, softening, or cracking due to fluid exposure. Improper Sizing: Using an incorrect size leads to over-compression or inadequate sealing force. Abrasion: Wear and tear from rough surface finishes or contaminated fluid. Extrusion: The seal is forced into the gap between metal parts under high pressure. Installation Damage: Nicks, cuts, or twists during assembly.
