RSJ Seals by Polypac: Advanced Hydraulic Seal Solutions
High-Performance Seal Design
RSJ Seals are a dedicated product category from Polypac, engineered for hydraulic and rotary applications that demand exceptional reliability. Combining decades of sealing expertise with modern CAD-driven design, RSJ Seals ensure minimal leakage, low friction, and long service life across temperature extremes and high-pressure environments.
Material Science and Custom Compounds
Polypac's R&D-led approach means RSJ Seals are available in a wide range of compounds—including filled PTFE variants (bronze, carbon, graphite, MoS₂, glass), NBR, FKM, EPDM, silicone, and FFKM—tailored to chemical compatibility, wear resistance, and sealing performance. Our material selection optimizes both static and dynamic sealing, ensuring the right balance of elasticity and hardness for each application.
Precision Manufacturing & Testing
Manufactured in our 10,000+ square meter facility with 8,000 square meters of production space, RSJ Seals benefit from industry-leading molding, extrusion, and testing equipment. Every batch undergoes dimensional, hardness, and leakage testing to meet OEM tolerances and international standards, providing traceable quality for demanding industrial systems.
Customized Solutions for Special Conditions
When standard seals aren’t enough, Polypac delivers tailored RSJ Seals—custom rubber rings, O-rings, and complex profiles engineered for abrasive media, extreme temperatures, or high-speed shafts. Our close partnerships with universities and research institutes accelerate innovation and ensure advanced sealing solutions for unique working conditions.
Applications and Market Benefits
RSJ Seals are ideal for hydraulics, industrial pumps, motors, construction equipment, and offshore systems. Buyers gain reduced downtime, lower lifecycle costs, and predictable performance. Polypac’s responsive support, rapid prototyping, and scalable production make RSJ Seals a preferred choice for OEMs and maintenance operations worldwide.

What is the difference between a static seal and a dynamic seal?
A Static Seal is used between two surfaces that do not move relative to each other (e.g., pipe flanges, end caps). O-rings and gaskets are common static seals. A Dynamic Seal is used between surfaces that do move (e.g., piston and cylinder, rotating shaft). Rod seals, piston seals, and rotary shaft seals are designed for this purpose.
What is the purpose of the metal spring in a rotary shaft seal?
The garter spring in a shaft seal (e.g., FSKR, SPGO types) provides a constant radial force on the sealing lip. This ensures consistent contact with the rotating shaft, compensating for minor wear, eccentricity, and vibration to prevent lubricant leakage.
How do I choose the right material for my sealing application?
Material selection depends on four key factors: Media: What fluid or gas will the seal contact? (e.g., petroleum oil, water, chemicals, steam) Temperature: What is the minimum and maximum operating temperature? Pressure: What is the system's operating pressure? Are there pressure spikes? Application: Is it a static, dynamic, or rotary seal? Example: NBR (Buna-N) is excellent for standard hydraulic oil, while FKM (Viton®) is needed for high temperatures or aggressive chemicals.
What does "AS568" mean?
AS568 is the Aerospace Standard that defines the dimensions for over 360 standard O-ring sizes. It is the most widely accepted sizing system in North America and globally. An AS568 number (e.g., AS568-214) specifies a precise inside diameter and cross-section.
What is the difference between NBR and FKM materials?
NBR (Nitrile/Buna-N): A general-purpose, cost-effective material with excellent resistance to petroleum-based oils and fuels. It has a standard temperature range of -30°C to +100°C (-22°F to +212°F). FKM (Fluoroelastomer/Viton®): A premium material with excellent resistance to high temperatures (up to 200°C+), chemicals, and oils. It is used in more severe environments but is more expensive than NBR.
